~ Launches Country’s First Indian 3G Mobile Handset & an Open Market CDMA2000 Handset~

New Delhi, India – 29th April’2008: Spice Mobiles Limited, India’s leading mobile handset company today announced their strategic collaboration with Qualcomm Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM), a leading developer and innovator of advanced wireless technologies and data solutions, to bring highly differentiated 3G CDMA (CDMA2000 and WCDMA) devices to the Indian market. To mark the commencement of this collaboration for the technological exchange, leading Bollywood actress Ms. Katrina Kaif, unveiled two new Spice handsets: S-950, the first Indian branded 3G device and C-810, a full-featured CDMA2000 device for the open market in India, in the presence of Mr. Dilip Modi, Vice Chairman, Spice Mobiles Ltd. & Group President (Global Operations), Spice Corp. Ltd. and Mr. Kanwalinder Singh, President, Qualcomm - India and South Asia.

This collaboration has strategic significance for both the companies. It will empower Spice Mobiles to address the demand for 3G-ready devices ahead of commercial launch of 3G services in the Indian market in sync with Qualcomm’s business model that enables companies to participate and compete in the wireless ecosystem with a view to provide consumers with innovative solutions and enriched experience.

S-950 is a feature-rich 3G (WCDMA) device that supports wideband services like high-speed Internet, high resolution video and enhanced quality image transmission with the same quality as fixed networks. The stylish slider device also offers a superior 2MP camera, 262K colour screen, music player (mp3/AAC/AAC+), stereo bluetooth, inbuilt stereo FM radio, video playback, JAVA, expandable memory support along with backward compatibility with EDGE / GPRS / GSM. This phone also comes loaded with value added content and applications like the Google Search engine, Opera mini Browser, NGPay application for banking/ticketing etc, preloaded with content from the latest bollywood blockbuster ‘Jannat’.

Spice Mobile C-810 is based on the QSC6020™ chipset from the Qualcomm Single-Chip™ (QSC™) family of solutions that enables smaller, sleeker, more power-efficient devices to the market at unprecedented price points. This fully loaded multimedia handset is the first of its kind that offers a 15-day standby / 10-hour talk-time and storage capacity of 500 songs or 1000 images. It has additional features such as a large 2.2” display screen, 1.3MP camera, Music Player (mp3/AAC), inbuilt FM radio video player, Bluetooth, BREW and expandable memory support.
