Mangalore: Spice Telecom triples its network and quadruples town coverage
June 10, 2007

Mangalore June 10: When it comes to network expansion, size does not matter. Small players are big winners as Spice Telecom, the state’s most innovative service provider has gained the status expanding its network and improving the infrastructure and technology resources reach in Karnataka at a very fast pace.

Spice Telecom has tripled the number of towers across the state in a bid to improve the quality of service to the consumers and reach out to newer towns. This move closely follows Spice’s vision to spread its service across every nook and corner of the state and to every mobile user residing in Karnataka. Earlier Spice had increased switch capacity, thereby increasing the capabilities of the Spice network to accommodate more users. With the ambitious cell site rollout plan its potential to reach out to more customers has increased manifold.

“Our vision for Spice Telecom whether its network coverage or tariff plans, is to deliver integrated services that provide unique value to customers. We have moved from covering 60 towns in Karnataka last year to 250 towns today and in the next few months, we will add on 300 more towns. There is no stopping us now,” said Mr. Navin Kaul, Chief Operating Officer, Spice Telecom.

Spice Telecom’s coverage in this region covers towns from Bhatkal to Haliyal, Shirali to Dandeli, Karwar to Karkala, Kumta to Sulya, Dharmasthala to Murideshwar, Koteshwar to Siddapur, Buntwal to Ankola, Baindoor to Bajpe, Malpe to Mudupu, Pharangipet to Mulki, Honnavar to Bhramavar, Nitte to Belman, Mulki to Mangalore, B.C Road to Uppinangaddi.

This growth plan finds credence in the impressive performance of Spice over the last year in Punjab and Karnataka. After the recent restructuring at the Shareholders’ level, there has been a significant improvement in the results.

Spice has also embarked on a multimedia campaign to take the message of “JAASTHI NETWORK” to the masses.

The company is also known for providing value for money tariff plans to suit to customers needs. Infact the Spice’s Uth tariff plan which is the largest selling tariff in Manipal offers students free SMS and lowest call charges. Keeping in mind a lot of students in Manipal use STD/ ISD facility, Spice has designed STD and SMS packs to provide low calling and SMS rates to their home towns.

Following its principle of providing its customers with comparatively the best value and quality services, Spice launched the Super saver plan for a very lucrative opportunity to new customers and ones seeking for an affordable way of going cellular.

Subscribers on the Uth Super Saver Plan can make calls to other Spice subscribers at 30 paise per minute and to other mobile subscribers at 50 paise per minute. Charges for calls made to any local landline number would amount to 99 paise per minute. Moreover, subscribers can also opt for the STD pack which would allow them to make STD calls to any mobile across India at Re.1 per minute and at a monthly rental of Rs.99 only. Subscribers can also avail the benefit of sending upto 3000 local SMS at 1 paise for a monthly rental of Rs.10.

The company is poised for growth along with its partner TM to secure its rightful place as a National Telecom Player
